Life has been jammed packed lately and, of course, when I'm trying to balance full time employee/part time business owner/wife/mother/blogger...well posting to ye old blog doesn't always have a place on my list of priorities.
This outfit is from last week when we were enjoying 80 degree temperatures. Mother Nature has calmed down a bit and Cincinnati's true spring temperatures have returned. As long as we don't go back to winter, we're still cool;)
The print of on this dress is a little bit precious and it can be difficult for me to wear. I think when you get to be my age you walk a fine line between wanting to look youthful and trying to hard(real housewives of the oc/beverly hills, I'm talkin' to you!) I'm hoping that biker-ish members only-like jacket and the wedges make it less girly. I like my "struggling to maintain my youth" with a little bit of edge!
Lately, I've been drawn to clean, white color palettes with splashes of color-in clothing, interiors, florals, everything. And, when those pops of color are neon greens and day-glo pink....fuggidaboutit!There's something so fresh about it.
Is anyone else still suffering from that lost hour? Don't get me wrong, thrilled the days are getting longer and I'm literally jumping for joy that it was warm enough for bare legs(in March!) but good grief I'm still dragging from my missing hour#thingsoldpeoplecomplainabout
If I had my choice of anemones I will always choose the white ones the stark black center. However, this vibrant purple variety won me over! This arrangement is made up of leftover bits of queen anne's lace, lisianthus, a few white mini callas and the dramatic black star mini callas.
Within the woods, Whose young and half transparent leaves scarce cast A shade, gray circles of anemones Danced on their stalks. Bryant—The Old Man’s Counsel.
So yeah, I caved and bought the most impractical pair of jeans ever! I mean leopard/cheetah/whatever print! But, so.much.fun!!!To prevent me from going full Peg Bundy, I toned it down with a jacket and flat shoes. I like;)
In other news, Monday morning I had my first on my own client meeting. You guys, I nailed it! Client booked, contract signed and deposit paid:) I'm over the moon! It's helped boost my confidence...a little.
Yellow continues to be one of my go to colors. I'm just happy when I wear it:) I also have this weird obsession with yellow houses! I may or may not be trying to convince my husband that we should paint our front door which is currently red to a pretty, buttery yellow. I mean red front doors...yaaawwn, but yellow...now, there's a house with a little personality! This outfit was perfect combat the cooler and dreary weather we had this weekend.
This morning I am on my way to meet with my first ever potential client! That's right folks...I've been taking baby steps toward hanging out my own shingle and while I'm not quite ready to give up my day job I'm working hard to land some of my own business. I've had some smaller jobs here and there put this is really my first pitch to land a floral+planning gig! Keep your fingers crossed for me my friends!
Can we talk a minute about all of the clashing patterns in this little ensemble? Polka dots, plaid and flowers, don't mind if I do. It's so funny that if you told me a year or two ago that I would feel most like myself in an outfit made up of clashing patterns and flat shoes, I'm pretty sure that I would have given you a major side eye! Times they are a changin'.
These last few weeks have been crazy busy and I'm happy that I have today off. A day to linger over my cup of coffee, read a few magazines, make a sizable dent in on of my goodreads selections, and go to Target to buy those damn leopard print jeans that I can't get out of my head!
