Hey Y'all! I know I'm a little late on the recap but I hope you all had a fantastic holiday. I think because this was our first "married" Christmas I had kind of high expectations. Of course when expectations are high it's easy to be disappointed. Things didn't quite go as planned and there was some drama but I got to spend the day with my darling husband and my kids, and really, it doesn't get any better than that:)

All week my son was buzzing with excitement for Christmas. Zachary is a happy kid but he had a ton of extra energy that week. It's kind of unusual because at 13 he knows the real deal about Santa;) Anyway, on Christmas morning he left Doug and I near tears because he declared this "The Best Christmas Ever". When Doug asked him why, Zachary answered "because this is the first Christmas I have a Dad!" and that, my friends, was the absolute best moment of any Christmas I've had in a very long time.

winter wonderland

This weekend we got the first snowfall of the season and did a little hall decking;)

                                                      The backyard covered in snow.
There are still a few leaves hanging on to this bush in the front yard. Brave little things!

I think last year's tree was a lot bigger. I have jokingly called this our Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
                                              I think it's lovely:)
Classic Christmas ornaments in red, white, green and silver.
The stockings are hung and waiting to be filled.

Our kitschy red tree in the family room because every house needs a little Christmas whimsy!
                                                                       Snow globes!!!!
Candles and a vintage mirror light up a corner.

With most of the the holiday decorations up I think I've finally caught a little bit of the Christmas spirit. There are still lots of presents to shop for but I'm hoping to tackle that this weekend(of course I still need to figure out what i'm getting everyone!). I also made some sugar cookies but those didn't last long enough to get a picture of them!
