yellow

I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend:)

Mine was spent with friends and family, lounging around the pool-yay for pool weather...finally!!-reading
magazines, eating a ridiculous amount of unhealthy but yummy food, taking in a movie, and
a law and order marathon.

Tomorrow it's back to reality:(

inspired by...

So a while back the lovely Miss Eboni tweeted this Lauren Conrad dress. I was instantly smitten with the chiffon fabric and the sweet floral print. Once I got it, I thought it looked a little like a nightgown(cue sad face!)

Inspired by Eboni's styling yesterday, I decided to wear it last night to Playhouse in the Park. I wanted it to look more classic so I dug this decade old blazer out of the closet. What outfit doesn't need a little bit of Ms. Bradshaw? So I added the oversize flower and tried my hand at the loose oversize Bradshaw bun thanks to this tutorial from the ever stylish B Jones

I'm kind of digging the results! Thanks for the inspiration ladies:)

golden oldie

details:skirt-anthro(waaaaayyyy old),/ cardi-f21/sandals-target

Hmmmmm.....I feel especially suburban mom-ish in this outfit but in the words of that great philosopher, Popeye, "I am what I am!"

Anthropologie opened in Cincinnati maybe nine or ten years ago. This skirt was one of my very first Anthro purchases.
It's been rescued from the donate pile a few times. I can't bear to let it go because i still kind of love it!
And, what's old is new again;)

Tomorrow is a much needed day off!!!!
I can't wait to do nothing cross all the things off my to do list:(

a day late

So, yesterday there was a blogger challenge.
And of course I didn't find out about it until the posts started hitting my twitter feed:(
This outfit was inspired by all those ladies that rocked their prep school looks!

I was hoping it wouldn't look too costume-y because nothing says "Desperate" like a 37 yr old trying to look like a school girl!
I feel like I walked out of a Tommy Hilfiger add...winning!

Enjoy your weekend!!

rite of passage

Senior prom an American rite of passage which turns parents into
crazy micromanaging lunatics that fills teens with a combination of
dread and excitement.

I took some time from my own personal corsage making hell to see my daughter on her way to
prom!

I may be a little biased but she's gorgeous isn't she!?

My oldest daughter and her big sis did her makeup.
And yes the short one is 18 months older:)

She's wearing 4 inch heels so I'm on my tippy toes so I don't look so short!

Wearing a  corsage made by her mom;)

Prom and next up....graduation!
Where did the time go?

freaky friday

details:dress-f21/cardi&necklace-anthro/sandals-target

I've discovered the seventh circle of hell-prom season! Specifically, prom moms...ahhhh!
Let me rant for a moment about these women that come in to order to corsages for their sons or daughters bringing the dress, shoes and jewelry, wanting to walk through the cooler and find out specifically what flowers will be used, which ribbon and wristband! They want to make sure "it's special enough".
I had a lady tell me today the corsage was not what she expected...ummm, 1.it's not for you so who gives a rats a** what you expected and 2.it's freakin flowers on a wristband!!!!

Rant over:)
I feel like I'm letting you guys down but I have a feeling that an easy dress and cardigan is going to become my summer uniform.
I've never been a huge a fan of pants or jeans and feel most comfy in a dress. I finally broke in these. Yay for not having to wear my clunky Dansko clogs all day, everyday!!

Happy Friday!

chevron stripes and a wall of words

I feel like I'm "that" friend. You know the one. She gets a boyfriend and becomes totally consumed by the relationship.
This job is the new boyfriend and it has taken up all of time. I've finally found something that I love! I've been working 10 hour days thanks to admin week, Mother's Day ,prom season and weddings.
The exhaustion can't dampen my excitement when I walk into the cooler everyday.

I've been working so hard and spending so much time away from my family I've started to ask myself when I should take leap and go into business for myself. I don't mind hard work and sacrifice but why should I do all of it for the benefit of someone else?

In my head and my heart, I've always known what I wanted to do. Fear has stopped me. Made me doubt my judgement and question my abilities.

Enough rambling......

Today was warm and not raining(much). The husband and I spent the day together running errands(the chiropractor) and hunting for our fave food truck. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday:)

"Seriously, do you have my whole outfit?"

*still working on the husband as photographer thing;)

What a lovely October day! The problem of course is- it's FREAKIN' MAY!!!!
Spring, come out, come out wherever you are!

Today it was back to work and even the gloomy weather couldn't depress me when I walked into the flower cooler this morning and saw buckets and buckets of the most glorious peonies! It smelled heavenly!

I had a hankering to wear this dress and try to winterize  make it weather appropriate I brought out the boots and knee socks.

Happy Wednesday y'all!

it was a very good year

So much good stuff this weekend!

This weekend the husband and I say celebrated our first anniversary!
There was so much going on downtown over the weekend-a Reds game, the Flying Pig Marathon and the ballet.

We decided to spend the night at The Westin, grab a bite to eat and see the Cincinnati Ballet's final performance of the season.

We chilled a bottle of prosecco to toast our year. Instead of saving the top layer of our wedding cake, Becca from Sweetwater Bakehouse, baked us an anniversary layer and I made myself a mini bouquet.

A festive table at Palimino.
We usually try to eat at locally owned independent restaurants. But, our fave downtown place, Nada, is a mexican restaurant. Spicy and sitting through a ballet ain't pretty, ya know?!
I decided to try to the Spanish wine tasting. I asked our server if it was too much for one person. She said no. Clearly, she gets her drink on;)

That's what half a chicken looks like!
I never pass  up the chance to eat fish.
 Or bread pudding!
 Hey there handsome husband!
Looking a little dazed and confused from the vino.

A good time was had by all!

I almost forgot to mention that on Friday afternoon a lovely girl stopped me in Anthro to tell me she reads my blog! How sweet is that?!
What?! An honest to goodness non friend/family member reads this! I was so flattered and amazed I totally forgot to ask her name:(
It was after a long day so I hope I didn't look like a hot mess!

come away with me

One year ago today, I married the love of my life!

I don't know if I have the words to adequately describe how much I love you.
I know it's cliche to say that I love more today than I did on that amazing day.

I used to dream of what our wedding day would be like and what it would be like to finally be your wife.
My dreams pale in comparison to our reality.

They say the first year of marriage is the hardest. We have certainly have some challenges this year(parenting and step parenting!) but we have handled them and grown stronger.

Loving you and being loved by you has made a better person.
I am so proud to be your wife!

Happy First Anniversary, my love!
